We have been utilizing the Property Grid Output to effectively supporting documentation efforts outside of ProVision. We output the Property Grid tables and paste them into a Word Document. We also use the exported data to analyze & audit the Business Processes
Problem 1: Consistency across objects
The output from the property grid object output is not consistent across similar objects used in a workflow. We would like to see similar field output for several objects used in the Activity Usage/Process Step Usage Objects. We request that the Performer & Parent Attributes be part of the output.
Problem 2: Activity Usage/Process Step Usage name only includes "Qualified Name"
While we appreciate the output of a qualified name that includes the ProVision "Numbering", we would request an additional attribute column that contains the actual activity name WITHOUT the ProVision Number. This would allow a person to output information and quickly identify similar, but duplicate activities.
I feel there shall be Format Painter Button to copy Style to other Objects on just click of the button as in MS applications.
Will save lot of time , I do see an option to apply style to same Object but not to other Objects.
We should add a widget which allows a user to indicate if are free, busy, or unavailable. This will indicate whether or not we can chat with them -OR- indicate whether or not work should be added to their to-do list. We may also want to add a calendar feature so a user can indicate vacation schedules or time-off.
We can select already display an action by role. It would be very robust to be able to show/hide data on forms by role as well. This would encompass both the label and any fields.
A great example is a New Hire Intake form, capturing the salary amount. There may only be a small group of people who should have access to that data. The way my firm handles this in Metastorm is to have 2 separate forms;
1 for those who can see salary
1 for those who cannot
The maintenance trail becomes longer when you have to manage multiple forms with the same information - not to mention separate forms for read vs. edit. Consequently, if a new field is to be added, it would have to be added in multiple places..
IMO, adding this functionality would be a big win for form design and maintenance.
Could we have grids dynamically generate their columns, based on the table it binds to? (Like a person can do in C# etc)
(I'm not sure though if you can already do this somehow with MBOs in v9)
Very often I need to display data from a temporary table in sql, which could have a varying amount of columns - thus, I can't specify the columns in the grid's properties, since 1) the table might not exist yet, and 2) I don't know how many columns the table would have .
There could be possibility to close the tab, by clicking on mouse wheel.
Another thing is closing tabs with context menu. If i have opened five tabs, and I want to close one of them, i have to click right mouse button on this tab, and chose close.
But If i want to close tab which is not active, designer open this tab (what takes a lot of time) and then close it. Designer shuoldn't switch to tab on right mouse click.
It would be nice if Knowledge Exchange could display Grids (properties grids, association grids and so on). When I set up i.e. property grid in Project Inventory, I get a message "This type of grid or chart is not supported. To view this grid or chart, check out the entire notebook".
Why to support grids?
It's great opportunity to share contact information to all persons in company/project team via Knowledge Exchange that everyone can see it on one place. In this case, I'm supposed to publish model into HTML and place it on web server and Knowledge Exchange has a less value afterwards and is not suitable for just viewing a models. I don't want to create any model with people, grid is perfect in this case.
Hi
It could be nice, if there will be some more clean error dialogs in v9. Error handling with user.error in v7 was not nice to user, but i think in v9 is worse ![]()
Below there are some examples of messages created by write to log visual script event with severity.error.
And finally, there are two rows in eLog table instead of 1 in v7!!
Is there any other option to show server side verification results?
@Provision: would be great if the "hard coded" fixed indications of the Interpreter would transferred from a "hard coding" to a ".ini" or ".txt" like file. This would give customers in Europe a chance, to insert a suitable translation. For example "it includes XX components" or " a component of".
In case of an export (for ex. HTML file) it would show the same "customized" title
It would be nice if Knowledge Exchange could display details of associated objects that user could drill down to details of assocated objects to see what's going on or allow a user to see text interpretation of model.
Why?
If I want to use Knowledge Exchange for presentation models to users I need that they have possibility to see all associated objects with their details or to see text interpretation of model to don't to click on every model. In this case, HTML export gives me better possibilities and KE loses it's value for presentation and I can use it just for multiple users development and online editing.
JScript code often contains comments and white space. Although this helps developers maintain code, web browsers ignore them. It would be nice if the eScript.ashx component could minimize the jScript code by removing comments and white space. This would reduce the amount of data sent from the Metastorm Engine to the browser.
Hi
In v9 you have some lighting icon before action and after action (the same with stage).
But there is no way to present events on form.
Mayby inventory tab could have something like in my attachment?
It would be great if there could be some way to show that Business Object paramaters are empty. In a perfect world, we should be able to say the parameter is required, and actually throw up an error if it is not filled, but that may be going a bit far. At least some indication would be good. I spend quite a bit of time cheking the parameters (and that is quite a few clicks in all) when things are not working as it is the most common and easily missed error.
The result would be fewer errors made by developers, and more easy diagnostics.
It is a but awkward to tell users that Libraries need updating, but then expect them to do this themselves. I would like to suggest we have a 'do you want to update this library' dialog, as we used in 7 and before.
If we do have this, please, please, please can we have a 'Yes to all' option this time? It is painful to have to say yes to every one.
Another option might be an 'update all' context menu item on the referenced Libraries branch in the Inventory tree.
There are a lot of dropdown in the property editor and elsewhere. When you click anywhere on these, it would be nice to drop down the dropdown (as it were). At present some do, but most merely display the dropdown button and leave me waiting for something to happen. It is not clear that you need to click on the dropdown button afterwards.
Overall it would make the whole development experience quicker and slicker.
now we can only set default connection, every time we want to work on other database server we have to change default connection, if we have dropdown with deployment service, we should have same with connections or maybe connectionstring should be saved in deploymentserviceconfig and changing deployment service would cause change database?
It woulod be extremely nice to be able to add parameter options to be presented to users of Visual Script Activities and Formula Builder items.
I am thinking that these would be dropdowns with textual items, and the actual value set as the parameter could be defined. These would be defined along the the alias and description items that are already definable. I am told that this is a perfectly normal and expected use of these items
It would make it much easier to build very useful and fully descriptive reusable items for Process Designers by Developers.
When you sort the toolbox, then drag something from it, the sort reverts to it's previous unsorted state.
Probably a bug, but I'll put in a request for it to remain sorted.
Hi
If you translate grid columns in grid, on form view this is not properly display. Labels are always from defautl, not from chosen language.

Greg
Currently you can run at an interval or once a day time period. It would be good to have the option to be able to start a servlet at a certain time then run it at an interval and then end it at a certain time.
Email from customer:
I need to
configure the script servlet engine to perform a task every 15 minutes
within a predefined period of time (11:00 am to 5:00 pm). Do I have to
put multiple entries for every fifteen minutes or is there a way to just
include a start time, stop time and interval.
