We should add a widget which allows a user to indicate if are free, busy, or unavailable. This will indicate whether or not we can chat with them -OR- indicate whether or not work should be added to their to-do list. We may also want to add a calendar feature so a user can indicate vacation schedules or time-off.
This seems like it would be an easy add to use Microsoft "Presence" with Microsoft Office Communicator. Skype already picks up names within Metastorm to-do lists and watch lists that allow me to dial a phone number from within MBPM!
Global360 has this capability and present it as a "business user" oriented widget. In practice it's not all that useful (since no one is ever going to admit they have little or no work to do), but business users seem to like the concept.
An even better version would allow you to blend information from your To-Do list, Outlook calendar (how many meetings to I have today) and an end-users feedback. A managers view would be great to allow you to rollup the overall workload of "my team".
ICCM is developing this concept and has it on the roadmap for a custom control for presence and combining it with calendaring and resource availability (tasks).
