Repository Cleanup Question

Good morning ~

We recently began using Provision and have no definitive standards in place in regards to adding objects into the system because we where in the exploratory phase of it's capabilities.

Currently we have the application on two separate computers and we are attempting to use a network drive to share models.  The problem with this approach is that we have duplicate objects across the board.

We plan on moving to the Enterprise version with KE in the near future and so we decided to start cleaning up the data within our current system.

I successfully used the Translator feature to export the objects from our shared drive and was able to import them into a new notebook which removed all of the duplicate objects.  :smileywink:

However, When I attempt to merge the models into this new notebook, the duplication of objects occurs again.  I have approximately 150 models in our shared repository.

Is there an easier way to handle this issue?

Re: Repository Cleanup Question

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately at this point it's difficult to know how you have merged at this point and what you've merged. One good option for you may be to use the CIF interface to reconcile data-sets, you could also use the Translator interface to do this as well, but you would likely need to go model by model via the Translator and would likely be too time intensive.

I did speak with one of our guys who works in Professional Services and one of his colleagues uses a method of going through the Nested Model Inventory and merging Model Type per Model Type. After each merge he validates that his output is the way he wants it. This works fairly well for him.

Re: Repository Cleanup Question

I am very interested to see how this process was completed.  Is there a model hierarchy in which the models have to merged by?
