I am trying to model the link between systems and the underlying, increasingly physical layers they depend upon.
I started by defining platforms comprised of technologies (e.g.. web farm, comprised of web server, o/s, hardware, etc.) with the aim of linking them to the already defined systems. However, there is no modeler which allows systems and platforms to be linked in this way.
The communication and systems interaction modeler allows systems, databases and equipment, but not platform.
The platform modeler allows only platform & technology
I can create an association between a platform and a system, and thus create a navigator model, but this suggest to me that I am doing something wrong - or do not understand the difference between platform/technology and equipment/database.
Help and advice welcomed please

I'm dealing with a similar problem now, and am sorry to see you didn't get any responses here.
I don't have access to provision right now, but I'm wondering if it's possible to change the laws of the system integration model to use platforms. I'll probably try this tomorrow.

Hi
You can always use a navigator model which can show any and all assocations / links etc, and objects. From a platform object use the System utlization association.
As technologies can be associated with multiple platforms it is an effective way of creating re-usable paterns that can be associated with systems in the above manner.
Cheers ... Jim
