Issue

• When trying to open the Process Designer, a user receives the following error message:
  
  Control 'ValidateDockPanel' has no parent window.
  
  or
  
  Control 'FindAndReplaceDockPanel' has no parent window.

Resolution

• NOTE: Modifying the registry incorrectly can result in loss of functionality on your workstation or server.
  
  
• The following procedure will restore the Designer to its default settings. Only the most recently used (MRU) files list will be retained. Other personal settings will be lost.
  
  
  1. Close the Designer.
  2. Open the Windows registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Metastorm\e-work\Designer.
  3. Right-click on the keys ExternalForms and MRUFiles and select Export so the keys can be restored later. Leave Selected branch as the Export range for the 2 keys and save the files. Note the following:
     ExternalForms only needs to be saved if you use external HTML or PDF forms.
     MRUFiles only needs to be saved if you wish to keep your existing MRU files list.
  4. Delete the Designer key and all of its subkeys.
  5. Open the Designer.
  6. Double-click each of the .reg files that were created when exporting the ExternalForms and MRUFiles keys. This will re-create those 2 keys.
