Metastorm BPM 7.6 SR1 Fails to Install Over 7.6.0.2

Version: 7.6.0.2 7.6.1

Issue

  • If Metastorm BPM 7.6.0.2 is installed, 7.6 SR1 will fail to install and the following error is generated:

    This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.

    An error message similar to the following is written to the Windows application event viewer:

    Product: Metastorm BPM - Update 'Metastorm BPM 7.6 Service Release 1' could not be installed. Error code 1636. Additional information is available in the log file C:\DOCUME~1\jjones\LOCALS~1\Temp\MetastormBPM7.6SR1Log.txt.

Resolution

  • This is a known issue.

  • The workaround is to install 7.6.0 hot fix 3 or 4 (7.6.0.3 or 7.6.0.4) and then install 7.6 SR1.
